Sustainability

A core value of our business is the sustainability of our effects and our overall impact as an organisation.

We take this really seriously and try to ensure our projects are designed with this in mind.

Key to this is applying multi levels of thought to the way we operate, chiefly selecting the most suitable and appropriate materials for a given build allowing the best service life and cleanest path to re-use or recycle.

If possible after specifying material type we aim to use recycled material for suitable areas of one off builds, and we re-use everything that can be safely re-used. Where a material has been degraded in use we aim to re-use it for a lower level use rather than going straight to recycling - this process greatly reduces waste generated and our footprint in producing effects and our physical products.

In addition to this designed-in sustainable process we have an in house metal recycling business with re-processing machinery that enables us to reprocess metals and crucially cable waste with very minimal transport footprint. This makes us uniquely placed to offer the lowest carbon footprint company of our type.

All areas of the business are geared toward minimising footprint and waste and maximising efficiency.

Key areas are:

Vehicles - a majority of our vehicles are Euro 6 emission compliant, and are maintained regularly to reduce the possibility of excess emissions. We regularly check tyre pressures and alignments to further reduce drag and wasted fuel - we use trailers and plan loads carefully to minimise mileages and fuel usage.

We carefully consider the makeup of the fleet and aim to keep vehicles for a good percentage of their service life, as the production of the vehicle forms a large percentage of the carbon footprint it leaves. We do not believe in swapping every two years for example!

Our selection of vintage action vehicles run on sustainable synthetic fuel, which is carbon neutral on paper, this is the best we can achieve with this type of vehicle - our ongoing project is the conversion of our fleet AC cobra to run on green hydrogen, our steam engines run from newly developed bio-fuel developed from waste bio product. This a very low footprint fuel which is starting to be adopted in the UK heritage market.

Our full electric vehicles include our electric cherry picker and our Bradshaw electric wet down truck - this is fully road registered and carries 2000 litres of water and allows us to very quietly and efficiently wet down areas and supply hose lines for puddling etc with zero emission at point of use. Back at base this is charged from a solar array further limiting emissions.

Our company is investing in green studio and workshop space at our farm in Derbyshire where hundreds of saplings have been planted in 2025 we are also engaged in building a sustainable creative hub development in Stafford, offering creative studio and workshop space. Ground source heat, full grid connected but battery buffered near independent solar arrays supplying power and composting toilets. For each unit, coupled with apportioned re-wild areas and extensive planting scheme make this a very low footprint beautiful space that we hope will become a model for others to follow.
